The all-new, second generation Audi A1 is due to be released in November this year. Since its release in 2010 the Audi A1 has been Audi's third-best selling model in the UK with sales of around 90,000 units per year.
The A1 is Audi's smallest model and it has now been given the benefit of a much improved sporty design. The new front end of the Audi A1 shows a glimpse of its heritage with three flat bonnet slits and a single-frame front grille that harks back to the original Audi Sport Quattro from 1984.
At 4 meters long the new Audi A1 is now bigger than before and is now only available as a 5-door model. Power is being provided by a choice of turbocharged petrol engines with no diesel option available. There is going to be a 1.0-litre engine offering 94bhp and 1.5 or 2.0-litre engine offering up to 197bhp. However, a sportier, all-wheel drive Audi S1 is due to be released early 2019 if you are prepared to wait!
As standard, the new Audi A1s come with a 10.25in digital cluster and a multi-functional steering wheel like the one seen on the previous model. All the models apart from the entry level version also come with an 8.8in, or in more expensive models, a 10.1in center console touch screen. The new sat-nav system will provide, internet connected location search, Google search and Google maps. With the optional MMI Plus package, there will also be live traffic updates.
As well as great in-car audio and connectivity, the Audi A1s list of standard driving features seems endless. One of the amazing new features of the Audi A1 is the pre-sense radar-based technology that will recognise cars, cyclists and pedestrians even in fog to offer accident reduction to road users. The same technology allows adaptive speed cruise to control up to speeds of 124mph which can also bring the car to a stop. The new A1 is also available with a reversing camera, parking sensors and an impressive automatic parking system!
