Why go green?
There has been a big push from governments around the world towards the production and adoption of green cars.
A ‘green car’ is a general term given to a group of cars that don’t rely solely on the use of fossil fuels to run. However there are still plenty of low emission fossil fuel cars that you can drive to lower your impact on the environment. In addition to the environmental benefits they offer, you can also save money on such costs as road tax.
There are strong environmental benefits to invest in an electric car, but there are many other benefits to be had. It is a fact that you’re not reliant on the use of petrol or diesel to run your car and that means you stand to save a substantial amount on running costs especially in the case of a purely electric car.
There’s also the fact that tax is extremely cheap, or in many cases free with a green car. Range concerns are becoming less of a problem as there are over 13,000 electric charging points in the UK and there are downloadable charging maps available for your phone to make planning easier. The UK government is offering grants up to 75% for the installation of a domestic charge point and this, combined with public charging points, helps increase your range.
There is currently no current congestion charge in most cities for all electric vehicles. This is due to the zero exhaust emissions of CO2. This makes all EV's the clean option. Hybrid cars offer less CO2 than conventional cars
If you are a company car driver the Benefit in Kind is reduced considerably.
