Twice a year, with the advent of the new registration plate, the DVLA censors all number plates and bans those which it deems to be offensive. The 19 plate saw such plates as DO19 POO, BE19 END and BU19 GER being omitted from issue.
Last year and for the '68-plate, banned numbers included BL68 JOB and BA68 TRD. For the '19 number plate banned registrations included OR19 ASM, EA19 DKS and AS19 OLE.
Whilst much of the censoring is now done by computer and is automated, spotting potential rude and offensive reg numbers isn't left to the IT department and their software alone. The good folk at the DVLA host twice-yearly meetings to scrutinize potentially risque or offensive plates.
Whilst the UK's roads are largely free of dodgy plates, there are still a few iffy ones we've seen. Have you seen any?
